On World Environment Day, June 5, the Exotic Pets Industry Seminar, co-hosted by WWF (Switzerland) Beijing Office and the Hunan Wildlife Conservation Association, was held in Changsha. Regulatory authorities from Hunan’s customs, forestry, public security, and postal sectors, alongside industry representatives, gathered to conduct in-depth discussions on ecological security issues related to exotic pet breeding, transportation, and other key areas.
Nuctech participated as an invited guest, showcasing professional inspection equipment including large-aperture stationary CT systems and handheld material identification devices at the event. Jin Zhe, Deputy General Manager of Nuctech’s Domestic Customs Industry Center, delivered a keynote speech titled "Technology Safeguarding Ecology: AI and Imaging Innovations in Live Animal Transport Regulation." He systematically introduced Nuctech’s Non-Intrusive Imaging (NII) technology framework and its achievements in combating wildlife smuggling. The "Smart Recognition" system, jointly developed by Nuctech, China’s General Administration of Customs, and Tsinghua University, integrates cutting-edge AI technology to significantly enhance analysis speed and accuracy. Praised by customs officers as "eagle eyes," the system has become a vital tool in inspections.
The recent boom in "exotic pet" ownership has heightened the risk of invasive species. The integration of "stationary CT + AI" has emerged as an effective solution for high-speed inspection scenarios like cross-border e-commerce and logistics supervision, serving as a powerful regulatory weapon that leaves no hiding place for invasive organisms.
Supporting WWF’s ecological conservation efforts represents a deeper and more profound expression of Nuctech’s corporate mission of "making the world a safer place." Nuctech is transforming the "eagle eyes" of security technology into a "shield of life" for ecological protection, collaborating with global partners to build an intelligent defense line for a greener planet.
