Nuctech Helps Customs Protect Endangered Species
Recently, ivory products and undeclared seedlings were seized by China Customs using Nuctech security screening equipment. At Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport in southwest China, with the “Automatic System Scanning + Intelligent Image Recognition” solutions developed by Nuctech, customs officers seized 26 suspected ivory items weighing 190 grams in total hidden in cigarette cases from an inbound passenger’s baggage. Those items were identified as modern elephant ivory.

In addition, the H986 Centralized Image Processing Center of Nanning Customs and Dongxing Customs in south China seized 190 undeclared seedlings in a truck full of export goods by leveraging the H986 security inspection equipment developed by Nuctech. The seedlings turned out to be Aquilaria sinensis and Yunnan agarwood plants which are under second class state protection in China.
