The Research on Backward Wave Mode High Power Irradiation Accelerator Project Pass the Scientific & Technological Achievements Authentication from the Ministry of Education

Entrusted by the Ministry of Education, the scientific & technological achievements authentication meeting of the research on backward wave mode high power irradiation accelerator project was held by Tsinghua University in Miyun Base of Nuctech on Dec, 09, 2015.

Wang Yan the Director of the Achievements & IPR Office of Tsinghua University chaired the meeting. The members of the authentication committee came from diverse scientific institutions including Beijing Normal University, Peking University, China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE) and other institutions, Wang Naiyan the nuclear physicist and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences was appointed as the director.

Prof.Tang Chuanxiang the Director of the project delivered a technical research report on behalf of the whole team to the committee. After listening to the report, conducting site inspection, questioning and discussing, the committee stated that this project has first achieved the technology of backward wave mode accelerator valve at bunching section internationally, and has successfully applied it into the high power irradiation accelerator. This application has obviously increased the efficiency and enhanced the reliability of the system, making it achieve advanced global criteria, and providing important technical equipment to the industrialization of E-beams irradiation processing of China. The committee came to a consensus to authenticate the project as scientific & technological achievement, and advised to go one more step regarding the industrialized application of the technology.

Wang Xuewu the Deputy Director of the Department of Engineering Physics of Tsinghua University, Li Yuanjing the VP of Nuctech, Zhao Ziran the Chief Director of the Joint Institution and other relevant professionals presented.

The research of high power irradiation accelerator has gone through 10 years, and many E-beams preservative irradiation processing systems using this technology have been sold. The technology has been proved economically effective, and given an optimistic prospect in regard of industry application.
