The 14th National Standard Drafted by Nuctech! A National Standard for Millimeter-Wave Human Security Scanners Drafted by Nuctech Along with Other Parties is Officially Released
“Millimeter Wave Holographic Imaging Human Body Security Inspection System” (GB/T 41482-2022), China’s first national standard for millimeter wave technology applied in the security inspection sector, has been officially released recently, and it is planned to come into effect on November 1, 2022. Nuctech participated in the drafting of the Standard as a major drafter, making it the 14th national standard that Nuctech participated in drafting.

Millimeter waves refer to electromagnetic waves with frequencies between 30 and 300 GHz. Compared with electromagnetic waves in other bands, millimeter waves are featured by being safe and harmless, having strong penetrating ability, and delivering strong performance in the reflectance of the human body. The millimeter wave technology developed based on the working principle of holographic imaging is particularly suitable for application in security inspection and is an advanced inspection technology in the world. Currently, actively illuminated millimeter wave imaging equipment is mainly used around the world. Such equipment empowered by the millimeter-wave holographic imaging technology adopts a walk-through access design. It takes less than 2 seconds for the equipment to effectively detect prohibited items and suspicious items concealed on the surface of the human body or under clothing without direct contact with the human body, such as guns, knives, explosives, drugs, etc., and the detection results can be displayed in the form of images. It is suitable for human security inspection at airports, public transport stations, land border crossings, mass gatherings and major events, etc.

As a leading security inspection solution provider around the world, Nuctech has independently developed millimeter-wave human body scanners which have obtained the Level A certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China and passed the Standard 2.1 test of Type A organized by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) for security scanners (SSc) equipment. These body scanners are widely used in global civil aviation, customs, prisons, government agencies, major competitions and events, etc. This body scanner developed by Nuctech and its core technologies have won a gold award at the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva. The equipment is also a winner of the China Patent Award, the First Prize of Beijing Science and Technology Award, as well as other scientific research awards. Nuctech will continue to pursue technological innovation, strive to overcome technological challenges faced by the industry, and optimize core technologies and security inspection solutions.

The formulation of this Standard promotes the advancement of related technologies and product updates. As the basis for future technological development, it drives the deployment of relevant equipment in various fields and places. The Standard is of great significance to strengthen personnel security inspection, ensure the safety of people’s lives and property, and maintain social stability.
